When comparing engineered wood, use Tallahassee Flooring Contractors Group to request a conversation with an independent provider.
Look past the plank thickness
The visible wood layer and the overall board thickness describe different things. Ask how much wear layer the product has and whether its maker allows sanding. Some products have little room for future refinishing.
Choose a sample large enough to show grain and color variation. A single small board will not show how a whole room looks.
Agree on the method and room conditions
Engineered wood can use different installation methods depending on the product. Confirm the approved method for your slab or wood subfloor before comparing labor prices.
Moisture checks and indoor conditions still matter. Engineered construction does not make wood immune to prolonged water exposure.
Plan edges and adjoining rooms
Ask how the installer will handle door jambs, stairs and height changes. The trim profile and transition pieces should be part of the selection, not a surprise at the end.
If finishing happens on site, get written guidance on room access and when furniture can return. Follow the actual finish maker's cure instructions.
